Biography:

Dr. M. David Calhoun is Assistant Professor of Religion at Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, Kentucky. He served as Adjunct Professor in the graduate program in Christian Ministries from 2009-2011 and joined the college as a full-time faculty member in the Fall of 2011. In addition to teaching at Lindsey Wilson Dr. Calhoun serves as the part-time Teaching Pastor at Hope Springs Community Church in Lexington, KY. Dr. Calhoun was the founding pastor of Hope Springs, a new church start of the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2000.

In 2003 Dr. Calhoun completed studies in the prestigious Beeson Pastors Program at Asbury Theological Seminary and graduated from ATS with the Doctor of Ministry degree in 2006. He also received his Masters of Divinity degree from the seminary in 1988. In 2008 Asbury honored Dr. Calhoun with the seminary's Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award. In addition Dr. Calhoun holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Dr. Calhoun is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and has served as a pastor in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church since June, 1985.  In addition to his current part-time appointment at Hope Springs Community Church in Lexington, Dr. Calhoun has served churches in Liberty, Louisville, and Russell Springs, Kentucky.

Dr. Calhoun is married to Kimberly Gipson Calhoun, who is in her twelfth year as a fourth grade teacher at the Lexington Christian Academy. They have one adult child, Jana Cooper (married to Dustin), who teaches Spanish at Harrison Elementary in Lexington. The Calhoun's have two children still at home, Abby(17) and Sarah (14) both high school students at the Lexington Christian Academy. In May 2010 David and Kim were blessed with the arrival of their first grandson, Elijah Cooper.
