Master of Education for Rank Change
The Education Division at Lindsey Wilson
College offers a Master of Education degree program for rank
change. This is a new program with the first graduate student
cohort graduating in May 2009. It incorporates a
rich array of practical, clinical experiences in
authentic and diverse settings to strengthen the connection between
theory and practice.
The Master of Education at Lindsey Wilson College is offered by
cohort. That is, students must enter the program during the summer
and progress through the curriculum as a group. The
practitioner-based curriculum is designed to be offered on Friday
evening and all day Saturday. It is also designed to be completed
in 14 months, including two summers.
We are state accredited through the Education Professional
Standards Board (EPSB) and will seek National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) during our next
accreditation visit which is slated for Fall 2011. Candidates in
our programs are expected to meet Kentucky Teacher Standards,
Kentucky Core Content, Academic Expectations, and Program of
Studies.
The Education Division at Lindsey Wilson College is committed to
the institution's mission of "Every Student, Every Day" and centers
instruction on our division motto "Teacher as Leader in Rural
Schools." Our instructors are qualified professionals who are
current in best practices and are active in area, state, and
national organizations.

Why choose Master of Education for Rank Change?
The Master of Education at Lindsey Wilson College is designed to
be an extension of the initial program in parallel form with a
higher level of critical thinking. That is, the program follows a
constructivist's approach and requires implementation of ideas, not
just knowledge and understanding of them. It is also designed to
provide teachers with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be
effective leaders in their schools and communities, while earning a
rank change.
