Biography:
Origionally from Houston, Texas, Dr. McCarter has been teaching
as a full-time Faculty with the School of Professional Counseling
at Lindsey Wilson College since 2008. Dr. McCarter brings to the
SPC Faculty, ten years of experience through research and practice
as a Professional Counselor in Community Agency settings, Higher
Education Residential settings, Educational settings, and Judicial
settings. She has treated multiple populations such as geriatrics,
adolescents, families, and children. On a part-time contract, Dr.
McCarter continues to serve as a Children's Crisis Therapist with
Northkey Community Care in located in Covington, Kentucky. Dr.
McCarter's research interests have included contexts of
Multiculturalism in Counseling Somali populations, Stress of Direct
Care Staff in Nursing Home Facilities, Work-related Stress, and
Diversity in the Workplace. Dr. McCarter is actively affiliated
with several professional organizations such as ACA, KMHCA, KCA,
and OCA. Dr. McCarter continues to express her community service
efforts and advocacy for minority and mental health issues through
her lifelong membership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
