History
The purpose of the bachelor of arts degree in
history is to provide a lasting foundation of knowledge and skills
for students to carry through post-baccalaureate opportunities. The
major is rich in
diversity due to the depth of coursework and
the variety of professors' specialities.
The history program offers the bachelor of arts degree in
history, the associate of arts degree in history and a minor in
history for students majoring in another discipline.
Program Distinctions
History students will become knowledgeable in general history,
including U.S. History and world civilization, and they and will
also become familiar with more focused areas of history ranging
from "History of the Old South" to Medieval Europe. Students can be
assured that a well-rounded foundation of knowledge and skills will
be provided to them through the program and also through the
tradition of a liberal arts education.
