Undergraduate Research
There are various opportunities for faculty and students to
engage in research. In 2010, Physical Education and Health
students, along with their advisor, Dr. Todd Farmer, presented
sessions at the KAHPERD convention.
Service Learning
Service learning opportunities are available throughout Lindsey
Wilson College. Each semester, education students enrolled in
designated classes participate in a service learning projects. The
institution is also actively involved in service learning
opportunities associated with Homeplace, a local rural historic
farm.
Internships
The Kentucky Teacher Internship Program is a mentored internship
program required for all new teachers. It is designed to provide
new teachers with assistance in being successful during their first
year in the classroom. This internship also helps guide teachers
through the identification and implementation of effective best
practices in teaching while guiding them in their professional
growth.
Honors
Education students are eligible for Lindsey Wilson
College nominations and honors.
Outstanding Academic Achievement Award
Each year the Division of Education presents the
Outstanding Academic Achievement Award to a student teacher
who exhibits exceptional performance as a student teacher,
contributes to Lindsey Wilson College in a leadership role, and
reflects genuine professional attitudes and dispositions of a
teacher. This recognition award is given to one student in each
certification area.
Retired Teachers Association Awards
Area Retired Teachers Association Award present one
outstanding teacher education student with a scholarship award. The
associations that award Lindsey Wilson College teacher education
students are:

Owensboro-Daviess County Retired Teacher Association
Education faculty is also eligible for internal and
external grant funding.
Academic Clubs
Kentucky Educators Association is very active at Lindsey Wilson
College. This group participates in several educational service
projects and sponsors a Student Teacher Tea each semester.
Membership in this organization provides students with up-to-date
materials and readings about educational issues. KEA-SP membership
also provides students with liability insurance, a must for student
teachers.
