Health Learning Community
Students who join the Health Learning Community benefit from
social programming, academic programming, and shared classes that
consider issues and content important to preparing for a career in
a health related profession.
Who can join?
Incoming freshmen who are interested in health-related majors,
particularly nursing, are encouraged to join the
Health Learning Community.
What classes are part of the Health Learning
Community?
- Freshman Seminar for Health Learning Community (Emiley Button
and Tabitha Ellis)
- Clinical Microbiology (Tabitha Ellis)
- Principles of Chemistry (Brian Hilker)
- Writing II (Kerry Robertson)
What service project will the Health Learning Community
members do?
Members of the Health Care Learning Community will do a
service project at a local nursing home and will participate in a
Health Fair.
What other special activities are planned?
A visit to the Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville
KY is planned. It is one of only five facilities in the
country that provide weekend and summer activities from horseback
riding to cooking for children with severe illnesses.
