Sarah Young, Class of
Everyone has something unique they are passionate about.
For Sarah Young, her passion is understanding the modern
workplace and looking at ways that design helps her clients work
smarter. Sarah has traveled from Kentucky to California pursuing a
successful career in architectural marketing.
Her journey began at Lindsey Wilson College. Born and raised in
Paris, Ky., and the granddaughter of an LWC alumnus, Sarah was
drawn to LWC's charming atmosphere when it came time for making her
During her years at LWC, Sarah was involved in numerous
activities including the Begley Scholars, Lindsey Wilson Singers,
Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society,
Student Government Association and Student Ambassadors. Sarah also
worked in the Admissions Office as a student, considering the
experience to be critical foundation for her career in marketing.
She earned an English degree and was influenced by the entire
English faculty, her co-workers in the Admissions Office, as well
as other faculty and staff.
After graduation, Sarah spent six years in Lexington, Ky., as
director of marketing and business development at EOP Architects.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to work in a marketing position
with the global design firm Gensler. In June 2013, she relocated to
Gensler's San Francisco office. Since joining the firm, she has
focused on developing business in the commercial office building
Sarah looks back on her LWC experience as a wonderful time in
her life in which she was exposed to new ideas and different
worldviews. She developed a number of interests, including a
curiosity about politics and current events; a love of literature
and the arts; an emphasis on the environment and other social
justice issues; and a focus on volunteerism and public service. She
says that is exactly what college should be.
John Kalz '06 and
Loletuth Flener, Class of 2007
Both John and Loletuth went from the hill of Lindsey
Wilson to the campus of Duke University in fall 2007. Both were
accepted into the Duke University Divinity School. At LWC, Flener
and Kalz were active in the campus ministry program, and Kalz
served as the college's assistant chaplain after earning a
bachelor's degree. Both graduated from LWC, summa cum laude.
