Mathematical models are developed and utilized for data analysis and decision making. Data sets and problems are taken from a wide array of disciplines. The integration of Mathematics and Technology is emphasized. Mathematical topics include: the need for rigor; Cartesian coordinate systems and their use in geographical information systems, density plots, discriminant analysis and contour plots; time series data; dynamical systems; and modeling with straight lines. This course satisfies the General Education Mathematics requirement. This course is a prerequisite for MATH 1013 Functions and Algebra. Prerequisite: Placement. Course Rotation: All semesters. |
