  This course provides students with concepts, techniques and tools involved in the process of converting or transforming resources into products or services. Included in the course are the managerial concepts in decision-making, as well as the interplay between financial objectives and operational capabilities. Topics covered include: operations and productivity, operations strategy in a global environment, project management, forecasting, design of goods and services, managing quality, location strategies, layout strategies, inventory management, JIT, and lean operations. Also included are case studies and a semester- long simulation game which demonstrates central concepts. Prerequisites: BUSI 2903 and ECON 3203.
