COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson
College community will celebrate its international diversity Nov.
18-22 by taking part in International Education Week.
International Education Week is a joint event
between the U.S. Departments of State and Education to promote and
to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange
At LWC, International Education Week will be
celebrated each day from 3:30-5 p.m. CT with a special program that
will be one-part talk, one-part ethnic food. All events are free
and open to the public.
"To celebrate and share our rich international
experiences with the rest of the LWC community and people around
the nearby community, we are going to have different activities
every day -- student presentations, faculty presentations, cultural
presentations, ethnic foods and more," said LWC Director of International Student Programs Suzy
McAlpine. "And to celebrate our diverse of student body
and international experiences from faculty and staff, we wanted to
represent as many different continents as possible."
This year's LWC student body includes 110
international students from 40 countries, the second largest
international student enrollment in the college's 110-year
"International students add so much diversity to
our campus," McAlpine said. "They not only bring a
different perspective to the classes and to life in the residence
halls, but they also introduce our American students to different
cultures from all over the world."
