Online Education Graduate Program Targets 'Teacher as Leader'

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College will
offer a 100 percent online master of education program, beginning
Called "Teacher as Leader," the 10-course, 30-hour
graduate program is designed to help teachers become more effective
in the classroom while also strengthening their respective
The program, which is for Kentucky residents who are
full-time teachers, will lead to the Kentucky Leadership
Endorsement and a rank change.
"One of the reasons we created an online program was to
eliminate travel for graduate students," said LWC Education
Division Chair Linda Young. "Teachers already have enough
stress in their life, and by creating a fully online graduate
program, we can offer them an innovative learning experience that
will make them better teachers while reducing the time and cost of
As part of the program, students will develop a
professional leadership growth plan in consultation with an LWC
faculty member; design and present a professional development
workshop in their school; and complete an action research project
in their classroom.
