International Festival to be Held April 4

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Guests to Lindsey Wilson
College on April 4 can travel from Japan to Africa in less than an
hour.
LWC will hold its annual International Festival and Language
Awareness Day from 1-4:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 4, in Biggers
Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive. The event is free and open to
the public.
At the festival, LWC international students from almost two dozen
countries will staff tables that exhibit items, clothing and facts
about their countries. The international students will also teach
visitors a few phrases in their native languages.
If a guest visits all of the tables, they will be eligible to
sample dishes from around the world, many of which will be prepared
by LWC students.
"It's a great way to learn about countries all over the world,
right here in Southcentral Kentucky," said LWC Assistant Director
of the International Student Programs Justin Cason. "It's a really amazing
experience, especially for kids, because our students love to tell
people about what it's like in their countries."
This school year, LWC's undergraduate student body includes a total
of 94 international students from 34 countries from Africa, Asia,
Australia, Europe and Latin America.
"Because we have so many international students on campus, we have
a great cultural exchange among our students," Cason said. "You
learn so much about other countries simply by living in the
residence halls, eating in the dining center or going to class.
This experience truly does globalize your educational experience at
Lindsey Wilson."
