COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Patrick Campbell literally
went directly from high school into college.
On Thursday night, Campbell graduated from Central Hardin High
School in Elizabethtown, Ky. And on Friday morning, he was at
Lindsey Wilson College to finalize his place at the college.
Campbell was one of 325 incoming freshmen who participated in
LWC's first round of summer EDGE days, held Thursday through
Saturday.
EDGE -- which stands for education, development, growth and
experience -- is a daylong orientation program for incoming LWC
freshmen. The day introduces freshmen to the LWC community and
gives them several opportunities to meet the college's faculty,
staff and students.
"I'm extremely excited about coming here," said Campbell, who
attended the day with his mother, Shelley. "I'm ready to be here.
It's the next step. I'm just ready for this part in my life to
start and for new doors to open."
While Campbell and fellow members of the LWC Class of 2015
attended orientation activities with LWC upperclassmen, students'
family members met with college officials, including Dean of
Student Chris Schmidt, who gave them an overview of college
life.
Tarah Miller of Campton, Ky., said she especially enjoyed the
orientation's ice-breaker activities because "they made orientation
a lot less awkward and also introduced you to some of your
classmates."
LWC will hold two more EDGE days this summer on July 22-23.
