COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Members of the The Lindsey Wilson Players
will present the play Godspell, a rock musical about the
gospel of St. Matthew, April 25-28 at V.P. Henry Auditorium on
Lindsey Wilson College's A.P. White Campus.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. CT April 25-28 with a 2 p.m. CT
matinee performance on April 28. V.P. Henry Auditorium is located
at 210 Lindsey Wilson Street.
The LWC production will be directed by Assistant Professor of
Theatre Robert Brock, with musical direction by
Associate Professor of Music Gerald L. Chafin.
Brock said the musical -- which was written by Stephen Schwartz and
first produced in 1971 -- is a fun modern-day version of the
gospels with a powerful and touching ending.
"It's a joyous celebration of the gospel," Brock said,
"Godspell is not only a play with catchy music, this
musical holds a message of joy in life."
Godspell is currently being revived on Broadway, and the
Lindsey Wilson cast members recently visited the Broadway cast
and participated in a workshop at the Circle in the Square Theatre
in New York.
LWC cast member Hannah Peck of Columbia said that the upcoming
production will be a memorable one for audience members.
"Godspell is going to be a fun, yet moving performance
that is sure to be one people will remember," Peck said.
