COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Area residents have an
opportunity to enjoy "a spectacular" concert Friday night when the
Virtuoso Horn Duo and Friends' American Tour 2009 makes a stop at
Lindsey Wilson College.
The concert will feature works by Kerry Turner, Robert
Schumann, John Williams, Billy Strayhorn, and Jerome
Kern
"This should be a spectacular performance, and we are
fortunate to have musicians of this caliber in Southcentral
Kentucky," said
Cultural Affairs Chair Phil Hanna. "Lindsey
Wilson is pleased we can provide this quality of music to the
community -- and at no charge."
The Virtuoso Horn Duo offers a program of highly melodic,
sometimes traditional and often technically dazzling horn playing,
combined with world-class artistry and execution.
Turner and Mascher began performing as the Virtuoso Horn Duo
in 2002. The two highly accomplished horn players began studying,
perfecting and performing the existing repertoire for two
horns.
After receiving critical acclaim for their performance at the
2002 Luxembourg Exhibition, Kristina and Kerry toured Europe for
several years. The VHD has also performed in the Southwestern
United States and presented concerts and master classes in the
Eastern United States.
Virtuoso Horn Duo and Friends will perform 7 p.m. CT Friday,
Oct. 23, in the Lindsey Wilson College W.W. Slider Humanities
Center Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public. For more
