Lindsey Wilson College Devotes a Week to Celebrating the Academic and Artistic Talents of Students

Columbia, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College will conclude a week of academic celebration with concerts by the LWC band, the LWC chorale ensembles and four performances by the LWC theatre program.

The college community kicked off Academic Celebration Week on April 30. The week showcases the projects, ideas and talents of more than 200 LWC undergraduate students.

LWC students from various disciplines use the week-long event to present undergraduate research and senior projects developed throughout the 2017-18 school year.

“Academic Celebration Week is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of our students and to recognize that each one brings unique gifts and talents to the College,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs Patricia Parrish. “We are fortunate to have a week to celebrate all that our students, under the guidance of our faculty, have accomplished in the past year.”

The week will also feature four performances of And Then They Came For Me by the Lindsey Wilson Theatre Program at 7 p.m. CT on May 2-4 and at 2 p.m. CT on May 6 in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street.

The annual spring band performance will take place at 7 p.m. CT on Friday May 4, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive.

And the Spring Music Gala will conclude the week-long celebration of academic excellence. The annual concert, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin, will feature the LWC Singers and chorale ensembles with members of the Louisville Symphony.

The performance will include selections from the Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) Laudate Jehovam and Mozart’s Piano Concerto #23 with pianist Jesse LaGrange of Burkesville, Ky. The concert begins at 7 p.m. CT Sunday, May 6, at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville St.
