Mathematics Tutoring Center
The mission of the Mathematics Center at
Lindsey Wilson College is to provide a place conducive to the
learning and doing of the mathematical sciences outside of the
regular classroom environment.
The Mathematics Center is located in Room 129 of the Fugitte
Science Center and
is usually open each week day with evening
hours Monday through Thursday as well as Sunday
afternoons. Schedules are posted at the Mathematics Center's
entrance and are included in many mathematics courses' syllabi.
The center is equipped with computers running a number of
software applications used in mathematics courses. These programs
offer homework practice, analysis tools, and testing. Students may
use the computers any time the Mathematics Center is open.
Tutoring is offered to students free of charge. Appointments are
not necessary, but if a student uses the Mathematics Center often,
they are encouraged to make an appointment. Qualified mathematics
tutors are available for one-on-one sessions and individual tutors
have regularly scheduled work times. Schedules of tutors are
posted in the center.
Becoming a Mathematics Tutor
Students who have demonstrated success in their mathematics
courses may apply to the Mathematics Center Supervisor to become
tutors. Students applying for a position will need the
recommendation of at least one of the Lindsey Mathematics
faculty.
