Engineering Mechanics - Student Learning Outcomes
LWC Engineering Mechanics graduates will be able to: 1.1: Mathematical Modeling Physical Phenomena
-
The student will be able to model physical structures and processes with calculus based techniques and produce a solution (either analytical or numerical).
-
The student will be able to synthesize Newtonian Physics with static analysis to determine the complete load impact (net forces, shears, torques, and bending moments) on all components (members and joints) of a given structure with a load.
-
The student will demonstrate the ability to read and interpret data tables by identifying an appropriate table from a set of tables and extrapolating from the given entries.
-
The student will demonstrate understanding of the 1st and 2nd Laws of Thermodynamics by utilizing energy balance analysis and entropic analysis.
Assessment of Engineering Mechanics Outcomes
These outcomes will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods including:-
exams
projects
written papers
case studies
