Lindsey Stonecipher
Graduating Class: 2013Major: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
When I first started college I was pursuing a degree in education. I learned real quick that was not really what I wanted to do. I then looked into the nursing degree. I have always loved helping others and making sure that everyone was taken care of. I then started working at the hospital as a CNA and decided that nursing was the career that I wanted to pursue. When I started this career my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. As I watched her battle it made me have a stronger love for nursing and try to make a difference in other people's lives just like some had made in my moms. I not only wanted to help patients but I also wanted to influence and encourage good bedside manners.
I was in the first class of nursing students at Lindsey Wilson College. I graduated from Lindsey Wilson in 2013. With many different professors and directors we finally made it through. Nursing school was not easy but a career in nursing is not always easy either. I have always loved challenges and different tasks and with nursing you never know what you will come across.
Over the years I have worked in different fields of nursing. I started out working on the medical/surgical floor at Clinton County hospital. I then transferred to Amedisys Home Health where I worked for 9.5 Years. I worked as a field clinician and a clinical manager. Working for home health was where my heart is for sure. I love home health and being in the rural area of Kentucky and Tennessee and helping the elderly people regain their independence at home. Two years ago I thought I would try long term care. With this career choice I obtained my Nursing home administrator license and stayed with them for about 3 years. I have since gone back to home health and I reside there as a supervising case manager of the field staff. Sometimes in Nursing school I felt like I would never make it, but I do not regret pushing on through. I would not trade my nursing license for anything in this world. It is so rewarding helping others and helping people be able to manage their disease processes at home. With my degree I always have choices. I am so thankful for all the people that supported me and pushed me through college and pushed me to never give up.
