Nursing Student Background Check
All students in the BSN Pre Licensure Program must submit to a criminal background check and substance screening as a prerequisite for clinical practice. Students who fail to submit to these requirements will be ineligible for clinical placement and unable to achieve the objectives of nursing course work. Those who do not pass the background check are afforded the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding the situation. If the student is ineligible for clinical placement he/she will not be able to complete the clinical objectives of the course and will fail the course.
The criminal background check will include but is not limited to: County Criminal Search; Nationwide Healthcare Fraud & Abuse - FACIS Level III; National Record with Sex Offender Index; Social Security Alert; Residency History. All background checks must be done by CastleBranch. The cost of the background check will be borne by the student.
Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) Criminal Conviction Notification NOTE: KBN May deny a nursing graduate admission to the NCLEX-RN Exam if an individual has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony which involves acts that bear directly on the qualifications of the graduate to practice nursing. Applicants are encouraged to visit the KBN website for more information.
