The Creation: Bob's Basket was started in the spring of 2021 by a group of students studying food insecurity on campus. The pantry was so popular that it carried into the fall semester and became an official student resource in the spring of 2022.

Bob's Basket is an on-campus food and necessities pantry that makes food and hygiene items available to all Blue Raiders. The goal of the pantry is to supplement student needs when existing resources cannot, and to make necessities available and accessible on campus.

Hours

Monday - Friday
7 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Saturday, Sunday
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bob's Basket Pantry items
The Pantry

Bob's Basket is a self service shelf located in the Student Union Building, across from the blue raider cafe. The pantry is stocked three times a week with a variety of items, such as:

  • Breakfast items - cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix
  • Grab and go snacks - granola bars, applesauce, peanut butter
  • Canned goods - spaghetti, soup, vegetables, tuna
  • Microwave meals - mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stir fry
  • Hygiene items - deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, body wash
Break Bags

Bob's Basket seeks to service students over academic breaks by offering pre-made packages of food, called break bags, for students to take home with them. A typical break bag includes:

  • A drink
  • Breakfast item
  • 3 snack items
  • 2-3 meals

Pantry operations are largely run by student volunteers, championing the idea of "raiders helping raiders".

Students can help by volunteering in the following areas:

  • Advertising and promotion
  • Campus and community outreach
  • Survey and data collection
  • Break Bag assembly
  • Donation collections
