Lindsey Wilson College to Celebrate Students' Success During Academic Celebration Week

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College will devote a week to celebrating the academic and artistic talents of students beginning Monday, May 1.

The annual Academic Celebration Week will showcase the projects, ideas and talents of more than 200 LWC undergraduate students.

The week will include new play readings by LWC theatre students, undergraduate research presentations by students from various disciplines, as well as presentations by seniors from the LWC Bonner Program detailing the impact service has had on their education and future career choices. The 2016-17 academic school year saw the Lindsey Wilson Bonner Scholars Program serving more than 23,000 hours in our local community.

The week will also feature performances by the Lindsey Wilson Singers, chorale ensembles and concert band. On Friday evening the Lindsey Wilson College band will hold its yearly spring concert at 7 p.m. CT in Biggers Sports Center.  And on Sunday night, the annual Spring Music Gala will feature the LWC Concert Choir & LWC Singers with members of the Louisville Symphony to present the Faure Requiem, the Eybler Cantate Domino and smaller works along with clarinetist Alex Bixenman and pianists Jesse LaGrange and Dr. Robert Reynolds. The concert will be hosted by Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street.

"Academic Celebration Week is a reminder of what a gifted and talented student body we have at Lindsey Wilson," said LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. "It's wonderful to enjoy such a wide variety of academic programs, and learn what students and faculty have been collaborating on this school year."

LWC's 105th commencement ceremony will be at 10 a.m. CT, Saturday, May 13, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive.
