LWC Partners With Med Center Health to Expand Opportunities for Nurses
Columbia Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College President William T. Luckey Jr and Med Center Health Executive Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer Jill Payne signed a partnership agreement at Med Center Health in Bowling Green, KY, on Monday, November 20, 2017.
The agreement allows nurses working full time to earn an accredited baccalaureate degree in 3 semesters in an online format, with reduced tuition rate from Lindsey Wilson College.
Lindsey Wilson College and Med Center Health are partnering to provide expanded learning opportunities for Med Center Health employees.
The agreement was made official during a Monday morning signing ceremony at Med Center Health in Bowling Green, Ky.
The partnership allows nurses working full-time to earn an accredited baccalaureate degree in 3 semesters in a fully online format. Med Center Health employees pursuing a RN BSN degree will benefit from a reduced tuition rate from Lindsey Wilson College. Additionally, one Med Center Health employee in each entering RN BSN class will receive the LWC - Med Center Health RN BSN Scholarship. According to LWC Nursing and Health Division Chair, Dr. Emiley Button, the agreement marks another milestone for the continued collaboration between the college and hospitals in the region.
"Med Center Health will begin serving as a key partner in our RN to BSN online program," said Button. "This will enhance the education and the training of Med Center employees, and the relevance of Lindsey Wilson College's RN to BSN online program. The intent is to foster continuous improvement to both organizations and to provide opportunities for the collaboration and growth and the effectiveness of the hospital's nursing staff."
Lindsey Wilson College President William T. Luckey Jr. says the partnership is an example of what can be accomplished when we work together.
"This agreement is an incredible opportunity for both organizations" said Luckey. "Finding ways to educate more nurses will have an immeasurable impact on healthcare in our region."
The agreement will streamline the LWC admissions and enrollment process for Med Center Health employees.
The partnership is the fourth of its kind. Lindsey Wilson College also has current partnerships with Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, TJ Samson Community Hospital, and Taylor Regional Hospital.
