New Residential Students

Saturday, Aug. 13
9 a.m.- 2 p.m. - Class of 2015 Arrives
CAMPUS QUADRANGLE (In front of the Cralle Student Union Building)

This is where residential students begin the move-in process. All new students must check-in at the small tent. Students will be directed where to proceed from there. 

10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. - Lunch
ROBERTA D. CRANMER DINING & CONFERENCE CENTER
Lunch in the Cranmer Dining & Conference Center is available at a discounted rate to family members ($5.50 per person). LWC students with a meal plan are free. Food may also be purchased at the trailers on the Campus Quad. Drinks are free.

1:30 p.m. - R.V. Bennett Honors Program Reception
NORMA AND GLEN HODGE CENTER FOR DISCIPLESHIP
This invitation-only reception is for those students invited to take part in the R.V. Bennett Honors Program.

2 p.m. - Say Goodbye to Parents
MEET IN YOUR RESIDENCE HALL
Time for final hugs and kisses. If you haven't already, say goodbye to your family and head to your residence hall. All students will walk to the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center with their resident adviser.

2:30 p.m. - Class of 2015 Kick-Off Ceremony
DORIS AND BOB HOLLOWAY HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER
All students - commuter and residential - will be welcomed by President William T. Luckey Jr. and Student Government Association President Khyati Patel. Students will also meet key Residence Life staff and participate in a team-building activity with members of their residence hall.

5 p.m. - President's Picnic
LAWN OF EMILY D. HUNDLEY PRESIDENT'S HOME
Meet LWC President Luckey and Mrs. Luckey while enjoying an outdoor feast prepared by the fantastic Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center Staff.

6:30 p.m. - First Hall Meeting (Mandatory)
RESIDENCE HALLS

All new residential students must report to their individual hall for their first hall meeting with their resident adviser (RA).

8 p.m.- Midnight - Class of 2015 HWC Lock-In!
DORIS AND BOB HOLLOWAY HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER
Take a dip in the pool or join students on one of three courts for a game of basketball, volleyball or badminton. Other events include board games and speed dating. Refreshments will be served.

Local Church Services

LWC Chaplain Troy Elmore will lead the LWC Community in an inspiring worship experience.

Monday, Aug. 15
9-10 a.m. - Group Advising Session (Mandatory for all freshmen.)

All freshmen must report to the Group Advising Session. Students whose last names begin with the letters A-L should report to Cranmer Dining Center; students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z should report to the Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center. Students will receive information about the following mandatory activities:

■ Individual Advising Appointment
■ Learning Community Activities (only for students in a Learning Community)
■"Crossing the Line" Location
■ Higher Pursuits Appointment (Tuesday, Aug. 16)
■ Library Scavenger Hunt Appointment (Tuesday, Aug. 16)

10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. - Placement Challenge Testing
T.D. AND ROWENA EVERETT BUILDING
Students who could have scored better on their placement test may take the Placement Challenge for an opportunity to test out of a class. The test is only given to students placed in a developmental English, math or reading class.

10:30 a.m.-noon - "Where's My Class?"
CRALLE STUDENT UNION BUILDING

Not sure where to go the first day of classes? EDGE Leaders will be available to show students around the A.P. White Campus.

2 p.m. - Crossing the Line
All OVER CAMPUS

Students enrolled in Freshman Seminar courses will meet with peer mentors to engage in an interactive activity that will introduce them to the common reading, Tuesdays with Morrie, and prepare them for conversations during their first semester.

5:30-6:30 p.m. - Blue Raider Tailgate
BLUE RAIDER STADIUM

Dinner will be served at Blue Raider Stadium (no meal in Cranmer Dining & Conference Center). Tailgate will include several events, including a cornhole tournament. Winners will receive a cash prize and face President Luckey and a partner of his choosing. If you're not into cornhole, play bingo for a chance to win prizes. Sponsored by ACES (Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success)

7:30 p.m. - Monday Night Blue Raider Football Intra-squad Scrimmage

Tuesday, Aug. 16
Starting at 8 a.m. - Higher Pursuits Begins (mandatory for freshmen)

Students will have received their Higher Pursuits time during the Group Advising Session Monday morning.

Library Scavenger Hunt (Mandatory for all freshmen)

Students will have received their Library Scavenger Hunt time during the Group Advising Session Monday morning.

3 p.m. - Work-Study Orientation
ROBERTA D. CRANMER DINING & CONFERENCE CENTER

This session is mandatory for all students who accepted federal work-study on their financial award letter.

7 p.m. - Trevor Davis Concert on the Square
CAFÉ ON THE SQUARE (Columbia Public Square)

Singer-songwriter Trevor Davis seamlessly combines pop, rock and soul to deliver well-constructed songs that are highly original. He has opened for award-winning singer-songwriters including such as Tina Dico and Anna Nalick. He has performed the National Anthem before San Diego Padres games; his most popular song, "Not Enough," received airplay on several San Diego radio stations. The concert is FREE; first 100 people to attend will receive a free Italian soda or lemonade, courtesy of SGA and SAB.

7 p.m. - Comedian Lachlan Patterson
V.P. HENRY AUDITORIUM
Hot off a memorable debut performance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Lachlan Patterson is one of the most recognizable comedians in the stand-up world. With festival invitations from Austin, Montreal, Aspen, Michigan, Vancouver and Nova Scotia, there is no shortage of stage time for this brilliant young performer. Tune in to Comedy Central and you can find Lachlan performing on Live at Gotham or on the Comedy Network where he filmed his uproarious half-hour special. Items will be given away at the end of the show.
