Why Choose Mathematics?

A degree in mathematics may lead toward graduate study in the mathematical sciences, such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, operations research, or actuarial science. It could also add a highly desirable analytical component for students to combine with other disciplines including business, econometrics, computer science, packaging, engineering, agriculture, forestry and biometrics; or with professional programs in medicine, denistry, law and pharmacy. Other students may also complete work in the education program to achieve certification to teach mathemaics at the elementary school, middle school or high school level.
