LWC’s 21st-annual Veteran’s Appreciation Luncheon

The Lindsey Wilson College Singers under the direction of LWC Associate Professor of Music & Director of Choral Programs Gerald Chafin perform for local veterans at the 21st Annual LWC Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Friday.

U.S. Air Force veteran Carrie Pendleton from Russell Springs, Kentucky, wins a handmade quilt provided by the Joyful Hearts Quilt Guild of Columbia at the 21st Annual LWC Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. Over the past year, twelve members of the quilting guild customized 20 quilts in patriotic themes for a drawing at the luncheon on Friday.

James Clark of Columbia, Kentucky, was all smiles at the 21st Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Friday. More than 200 veterans and their family members were in attendance at the annual event hosted by Lindsey Wilson College.

21st-annual Veteran’s Appreciation Luncheon

Drawing winners stand with their handmade quilts designed in patriotic themes by the Joyful Hearts Quilt Guild of Columbia. Twelve members of the quilting guild worked to provide the quilts especially for veterans in attendance at Friday's luncheon hosted by LWC.



U.S. Army veteran James Flowers

U.S. Army veteran James Flowers of Columbia used the special day to don his dress blues. Flowers, a retired artillery officer with the 18th Airborne served from 1971-1996 and is a member of VFW Post 6097. LWC held its annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Friday.



21st Annual LWC Veterans Appreciation Luncheon

VFW Post 6097 member Paul Milligan from Columbia, chats with human services and counseling senior Allison Hay from Munfordville, Kentucky on Friday at the 21st Annual LWC Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. More than two dozen LWC students and staff volunteered their time on Friday to serve and visit the veterans at the meal.
