Graduating Class: 2013Major: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
I am proud to say that I am a 2013 graduate of the first class of nursing at Lindsey Wilson University. When I was a senior in high school, I took a CNA class and began working at our local hospital. I quickly fell in love with taking care of others. I knew I wanted a career in the medical field, but it wasn’t until I became a CNA that I realized that nursing was the right path for me. Nursing has opened so many opportunities for me. I have worked in medical-surgical units, behavioral health, home health, and family medical centers. I have spent most of my nursing career as a care coordinator at Adair Family Medical Center, located in Columbia.
As a care coordinator, I was able to help my patients understand their diagnoses and communicate with their medical team to ensure they receive quality care. In 2018, I took a position as an adjunct clinical instructor with Lindsey Wilson. In 2021, I accepted a full-time position at Lindsey Wilson as the Director of Health Services. With this position, I also serve as the campus nurse, and I continue to teach labs and clinicals within the nursing program. During this time, Lindsey Wilson Health Services has been able to contract with Cumberland Family Medical Centers to provide telehealth and behavioral health services to our students, faculty, and staff.
After working as a clinical instructor, I discovered a love for higher learning and decided to pursue a degree in nursing education. In 2023, I graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University. As a nurse educator, it is very fulfilling to be able to prepare students entering into the nursing profession. I have learned that any avenue as a nurse has its rewards. I am so thankful for the education, opportunities, and now career that Lindsey Wilson has provided for me. I look forward to being able to continue to give back to the college, students, and future nurses.
