The Lindsey Wilson College National Alumni Association honored three alumni and two longtime friends on Saturday morning, Sept. 24, during the college’s 91st Homecoming celebration. LWC First Lady Elise Luckey made her first appearance on the LWC stage

LWC First Lady Elise Luckey made her first appearance on the LWC stage in the long-awaited production of Love Letters by A.R. Gurney. The two-person play also starring Associate Professor of Theatre Robert Brock was postponed during the pandemic. The one-night only, Homecoming performance covers a nearly 50-year span in the lives of two friends who correspond by letter. Brock first performed the play with American actress Annie Potts in 2002.

Luckey Jr., crowned queen was Luna Senica of Staufen, Germany, and crowned king was Evan Smiley of Payneville, Kentucky.


Lindsey Wilson football team retained the Highway 55 trophy

The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team retained the Highway 55 trophy for the seventh straight season on Homecoming weekend with a 21-12 win over Campbellsville (Kentucky) University.


The Lindsey Wilson Singers

The Lindsey Wilson Singers donned bowties to celebrate Honorary Alumnus Award recipient Duane Bonifer. Bonifer, who is known for the preferred neck wear, worked for LWC from 1991 to 2016. He is credited for developing the College’s first ever website, the current LWC logo and adapting the tagline “Every Student, Every Day” from the College mission statement. Directed by LWC Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin, current and former members of the LWC Singers performed the South African praise song “Gabi, Gabi,” a favorite of Bonifer.


 Casey Hardy McGowan accepts her award on Saturday at the 91st LWC National Alumni Association Awards

Russell County native and Outstanding Young Alumna Award recipient Casey Hardy McGowan accepts her award on Saturday at the 91st LWC National Alumni Association Awards Celebration Luncheon. McGowan graduated summa cum laude from LWC in 2014. She attended Emory (Georgia) University School of Law where she earned a Juris Doctor with honors. Currently, McGowan is serving as an associate corporate counsel for Amazon and lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.


Betty Jean Moseley of Bowling Green, Kentucky,

Betty Jean Moseley of Bowling Green, Kentucky, accepts the Honorary Alumna Award on Saturday at the 91st LWC National Alumni Association Awards Celebration Luncheon. Moseley and her late husband, Doug, have been longtime contributors to the Lindsey Wilson endowment and began the Doug and Betty Jean Endowed Scholarship which has grown to more than $264,000. In April, Betty Jean gave a substantial gift to name the Doug and Betty Jean Moseley Auditorium in the Hodge Center for Discipleship.


Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient Stanley Curry ’84 of Campbellsville, Ky

Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient Stanley Curry ’84 of Campbellsville, Kentucky, waves to the crowd from the 20-yard line on Saturday during LWC’s 91st Homecoming. Curry opened his first pre-owned car dealership, AutoSmart, more than 35 years ago. The company has grown to include locations in Campbellsville and Leitchfield, Kentucky. AutoSmart was named Outstanding Investor of the Year in 1996 by the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce. Today, Curry employs 40 individuals and maintains an inventory of more than 200 vehicles, including off-road vehicles and golf carts. Curry serves on the board of SportsReach, a ministry outreach team that uses sports to deliver the gospel to young athletes. SportsReach has partnered with LWC to coordinate a shoe drive that annually collects 200-300 pairs of shoes to be distributed all over the world.


Brady C. Button Memorial Golf Scramble 2022

More than $10,000 was raised to benefit the Brady C. Button Endowed Scholarship and the LWC men's basketball program. More than 80 friends, colleagues and family members of Button, who died of skin cancer in 2021, played in the scramble on Saturday held during LWC’s 91st Homecoming.
