Lindsey Wilson College Hosts 25th Annual Safe Halloween

COLUMBIA, KY - Area children and their family members are invited to the 25th-annual Lindsey Wilson College "Safe Halloween." The annual trick-or-treat event for area children will begin in the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY, with other stops during the 6pm - 9pmCT October 30, 2018 tour. The event, which is sponsored by the LWC Office of Residence Life, is free and open to the public.

LWC students will escort children and their family members from the Holloway Health & Wellness Center through four residence halls. Tours will begin around every five minutes. Children will receive store-bought, packaged candy from student residents, many of whom will be dressed in costumes. The tour will take less than an hour.

The five residence halls to be featured in this year's "Safe Halloween" are: Jerry and Kendrick McCandless Hall, which will be decorated in themes inspired by Marvel Superheroes; Phillips Hall, which will be decorated in themes inspired by the films Trolls, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid, and Inside Out; Keefe Hall, which will be decorated in themes inspired by the films Lilo and Stitch and Moana; Horton Complex, which will be decorated in themes inspired by the game Fortnite; and Parrot Hall, which will include a haunted section. The Katie Murrell Library will also be included in the tour this year.

The tour will end at the children’s carnival on the campus quadrangle, weather permitting. The carnival will include games, activities and more candy. In the event of rain, the carnival events will be held in the Cralle Student Union Building.

“My favorite part of Safe Halloween is seeing all the kids’ faces light up when they get their candy and see all their favorite characters come to life,” said LWC Women’s Hall Coordinator, Sarah Mitchell, “It’s also such a great thing to see so many of our students to come together to put on this fun event for our community. It’s important for us to hold events like Safe Halloween. Our core message here at LWC is all about family, so it’s important that we give back to the local community that we call home.”
