Lindsey Wilson College to Celebrate Students' Success During Academic Celebration Week


COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College will devote a week to celebrating the academic and artistic talents of students beginning Monday, Dec 3.

The annual Academic Celebration Week will showcase the projects, ideas and talents of more than 200 LWC undergraduate students.

The week will include undergraduate research presentations by students from various disciplines, as well as presentations by seniors from the LWC Bonner Program detailing the impact service has had on their education and future career choices.     

The Lindsey Wilson College choral ensembles with members of the Louisville Symphony will present two performances of Messiah Sing -- 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg St., Columbia, Ky.,  and 6 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Homeplace Barn Stage, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KyThe annual concert is patterned after Messiah sing-alongs in which the audience joins in singing the choral sections. 

The week will also feature the LWC Theatre Program's final performances of Bright Star at 7 p.m. CST on December 6 and 7. The production features the Grammy-nominated score by famed comedian Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. All performances will take place in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street. 

The Lindsey Wilson College band will close out the week-long celebration with its yearly winter concert at 7 p.m. CST on Friday, Dec. 7, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, Ky.  

"Academic Celebration Week is a reminder of what a gifted and talented student body we have at Lindsey Wilson," said LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. "It's wonderful to enjoy such a wide variety of academic programs, and learn what students and faculty have been collaborating on this school year."

LWC's 108th commencement ceremony will be at 10 a.m. CST, Saturday Dec 15, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive.
