Cheryl Boger, LWC Regional Enrollment Director for the School of Professional Counseling, was recently honored at the 2018 Kentucky Counseling Association (KCA) Conference. Boger received the Outstanding College & Career Counselor of the Year Award for the state of Kentucky.
The Kentucky Counseling Association is the state branch of the American Counseling Association and is an organization of counseling professionals who work in educational, health care, residential, private practice, community agency, government, business and industry settings.
KCA's mission is ‘to enhance human development throughout the lifespan and to promote public confidence and trust in the counseling profession.’
Boger, who has served LWC since 2002, said that she was not expecting to be awarded at the conference.
“I was very surprised but very honored to receive this award,” said Boger. “I truly love working with students throughout their educational journey. It’s so rewarding to witness their dedication and commitment to their education while juggling several different roles.”
Boger has served Lindsey Wilson College for over 16 years in various teaching and advising roles. She attributes her ability to win such an award to the students that she serves.
“I’ve had the honor of teaching and advising many students at our community campuses and online,” said Boger. “The connections that I’ve made in those communities and in the helping profession have allowed me to better serve in my role at LWC. Students keep me excited about what I do and it never feels like a job.”
