LWC to Host Drive-Thru Safe Halloween

Area children and their family members are invited to Lindsey Wilson College for its first-ever "Drive-Thru Safe Halloween." The COVID-19 friendly, trick-or-treat event will be held in lieu of the traditional campus Halloween event that has taken place inside the LWC residence halls for more than 25 years. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be from 5-8 p.m. CT, on Friday, Oct. 29. Cars will enter campus on Spickard Drive, off of Hwy. 206.

“The Lindsey Wilson community enjoys welcoming local children to campus each year and we were so disappointed when we had to cancel “Safe Halloween” last year because of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Anna Buckman who was named LWC Director of Student Activities last fall. “We really wanted to find a way to continue the event. A drive-thru, trick-or-treat seems to be the safest and most responsible option for our students and our guests.”

LWC’s “Drive-Thru Safe Halloween” will begin on Spickard Drive, which is accessed from Fairgrounds Street (Hwy. 206). Guests will then drive up Spickard Drive, where LWC students will hand out the candy.  Vehicles will continue straight at the top of the hill and exit campus behind the Bob and Doris Holloway Health and Wellness Center.

Children will enjoy the festive music and the campus will be adorned with spooky, and some not-so-spooky, Halloween decorations. Lindsey Wilson students will be dressed as popular children’s characters and LWC athletes will be in uniform. Students will wear gloves as a safety precaution. For more information, contact LWC Director of Residence Life Sarah Mitchell at 270-384-7383. The event is sponsored by the LWC Office of Residence Life.
