Professor emeritus of art Lori Sargent remembered for her contributions to students, curriculum


lori sargentProfessor emeritus of art Lori Sargent died on Sunday, July 5. She was 78.

During her nearly two decades of service to Lindsey Wilson students, Sargent served as a professor of art and education, as well as associate dean of the faculty. Her creativity, imagination and dedication to the Lindsey Wilson mission shaped scores of future artists and teachers, and her tireless leadership was an inspiration to her colleagues on the faculty.

In addition to serving as a mentor to many new faculty, Sargent was an accomplished artist, creating dozens of memorable pieces of pottery with the kiln she helped install on campus. Her works were featured in art shows throughout the region.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Aug. 22 at All Peoples Unitarian Church, 4936 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
