Lindsey Wilson University Counseling Professor, Doctoral Student Take Part in Capitol Hill Event

LWU Counseling spends day in DC COLUMBIA, Ky. (09/23/2026) — Two members of the Lindsey Wilson University community were recently on Capitol Hall to help make the case for counseling and mental health care.

Lindsey Wilson counseling professor Tiffany P. Brooks and doctoral student Amanda Gienow of Knoxville, Tennessee, joined other members of the Tennessee Counseling Association on Sept. 16-17 to participate in the American Counseling Association's Day on the Hill.

The group visited members of the congressional delegations from Kentucky and Tennessee.

Stops on Capitol Hill for the Lindsey Wilson delegates included the offices of Reps. Tim Burchett, Chuck Fleischmann and Matt Van Epps, all of Tennessee, and then Rep. Brett Guthrie and Sen. Mitch McConnell, both of Kentucky.

"It was a great experience to share our experience as mental health care professionals and advocate for important legislation with our legislators," said Brooks.
