Lindsey Wilson University Alumna Aubrey Elliott Named Director of Student Activities
COLUMBIA, Ky. (10/02/2026) — For Aubrey Elliott '19, the chance to return to Lindsey Wilson University is an opportunity to help a place that helped her.
Elliott has been named Lindsey Wilson's director of student activities. With an office located in the Cralle Student Union Building, Elliott works with the university's Student Activities Board and other student groups to program special events, activities and celebrations for the student body.
"Being back in Columbia and at Lindsey Wilson is refreshing," said Elliott, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Lindsey Wilson. "The campus has new and exciting things since I graduated, but there are lots of familiar faces of people who contributed to me, who as a young woman, created my own identity."
One of those familiar faces is Dean of Students Chris Schmidt, who knew Elliott as a student and is excited to have her back on campus in a staff position.
"We're excited about having Aubrey serve as student activities director because she brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the position," said Schmidt. "Aubrey believes in the Lindsey Wilson mission, and she understands the importance of serving students. Her experience and organizational skills make her a valuable asset to the university."
Resident and commuter student
One of Elliott's strengths is that she knows Lindsey Wilson's undergraduate student life from the perspective of a residential student and a commuter student, as she lived on campus and commuted from Russell Springs, Kentucky, while enrolled at the school. As a Lindsey Wilson student, Elliott was a manager for the women's basketball team, served as a Bonner Scholar and participated in many campus events.
A Louisville native, Elliott worked in real estate in the Louisville area when she decided it was time for a career reset. That's when she came across an advertisement for the position at Lindsey Wilson.
"I thought, 'Hey, what would it be like if I went to work at the place where I grew up as a young woman,'" said Elliott, who has family ties to Cumberland County, Kentucky. "It is exciting for me to have a job where part of my responsibility is to create a moment that's exciting and fun for people on campus."
Elliott is charged with creating, planning and coordinating a myriad of campus events for faculty and staff throughout the school year. Some of her big upcoming events include Homecoming Weekend in early November and the students' annual Halloween dance. She also helps run the several dozen summer camps that operate from mid-May through early August on the A.P. White Campus.
Fun for wallflowers
Elliott aims to promote a campus life that offers events and activities that appeal to everyone in the student body, from social butterflies to introverts.
"I want to create an environment that is exciting, engaging and well-advertised enough that even a wallflower would want to attend," she said.
Elliott transferred to Lindsey Wilson from a large Kentucky state university, where "I didn't feel like I had a place or really fit in."
She said that being a Lindsey Wilson student "taught me how to build new relationships with people, how to be part of a community and how to engage with others."
She said that she also picked up a lot of soft skills in classes taught by business and economics professor Trudy Morlino and former communication faculty member Laura Burwash '03.
"Lindsey Wilson taught me a lot of soft skills that helped me find success in the real estate profession," she said. "I really enjoyed my time as a student here, and I look forward to providing activities and events that will help shape our students' Lindsey Wilson experience."
