2024 Homecoming Alumni Award Recipient
Linda Underwood King '67 - Distinguished Service
Since graduating in 1967, Linda Underwood King has been one of LWC's most dedicated and influential advocates. As a student, she was incredibly active on campus. She participated in the Lindsey Wilson Singers; served as captain of the Raiderettes; was part of the homecoming court; served as co-editor of the Pine Cone yearbook; was an officer in the Methodist Student Movement; and she sang in the Columbia Methodist Church Choir. After graduation, Linda dedicated her life to teaching and changing lives in the classroom. She taught in the Jefferson County School System, was Director of Gifted Education in the Fort Campbell School System and taught at the college level at Austin Peay State University. Linda has led a life of service and is devoted to the United Methodist Church. She has served as a lay delegate to the Kentucky Annual Conference, a delegate to the United Methodist General Conference and served on the board at Wesley Manor Retirement Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Currently, she serves on the Lindsey Wilson College Board of Trustees. In 2014, Linda started the Reverend L. Carman King & Linda Underwood King Endowed Scholarship. King was married 42 years to the late Reverend L. Carmen King. She has two stepsons, David Carman King (Carol), and Jeffrey Eddie King (Beth). The Distinguished Service Award is a testament to her life of service to the students at LWC and the United Methodist Church.
