There will be a modified calendar for A.P. White Campus day classes to compress the fall semester, but the semester will still have 15 weeks of instructional time. Final exams will end on November 25th for the A.P. White Campus. Online, web, evening, and graduate classes will remain on the originally published academic calendar. Evening classes in session 2 will be converted to web classes. Evening classes in session 1 will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the best approach to instruction. Students will be notified by instructors with specifics regarding session 1 evening courses. It is important that you realize with these calendar changes, that you are expected to access the online portion of your courses beginning August 22. You will be expected to come to your first in-person class having completed some sort of preparation.

We are upgrading classroom technology to include new computers, microphones, webcams, and speakers in all A.P. White classrooms. We also are ensuring full-time faculty have access to laptop computers with webcams.

Commencement remains scheduled for December 12, 2020. We will be monitoring circumstances to determine how we can offer a safe experience for our graduates. It is possible that faculty will not be in attendance at Commencement because we need to maintain social distancing. The exception would be for doctoral candidates, who would have a faculty member present if hooding is an option under the health requirements in December.

Students at high risk will be given the opportunity to take classes remotely. This opportunity is being supported by a significant investment in classroom technology. Because of Kentucky Board of Nursing requirements, Nursing students may not be able to refuse clinical or lab without delaying their program by a year.

We expect there will be very little to no travel for students, faculty and staff during the fall semester except for a scheduled athletic contest. Any student-athlete not comfortable with traveling to represent the college will not be penalized and will retain all financial aid awarded. At this moment we anticipate that we will return to a life before Covid-19 and resume a full semester of activity, social interaction and close personal relationships. The first day of the Spring semester is January 11, 2021 and we look forward to your safe return to campus.

Yes, though faculty may wear a face shield in place of a mask only when teaching so their voices travel better and students can get visual cues. The use of face shields in place of face masks is an option, not a requirement, so faculty who prefer to wear a mask may continue to do so.

Social distancing will be practiced through changes to your class meeting schedule, reducing classroom capacity, and hybrid instruction. You will attend each class in person one time per week. The remaining instruction will be provided online via Blackboard. Your faculty will provide the same lesson to one half of the class on the first day of in-person instruction each week and then repeat that lesson to the second half of the class on the second day of in-person instruction each week. This will allow us to implement six feet of social distancing within the classroom setting and will ensure you have the high-quality face-to-face experience that led you to choose LWC.

Upon returning to campus in August, you will be provided with information regarding which day you will attend your classes. This approach to scheduling is for the health and safety of all students, faculty, and staff.

Yes, exams will be completed on Monday, November 23 - Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Exams will be given online to ensure social distancing and a revised final exam schedule will be published in the academic catalog.

Students will have the option of completing their courses by returning to campus or remotely. A fully online option would be available only if your intended major is offered fully online and if there is space in the classes. Students who choose to return to campus will attend in-person classes one day per week as explained above. If a student opted to remain at home and join classes remotely, the student will join the in-person session using videoconferencing on his/her assigned day. The remainder of course delivery will be completed on Blackboard, just like students who return to campus. This option is being made available for any students who have underlying health concerns or who just are not comfortable with a return to campus for Fall 2020. There are some majors in which all courses cannot be completed remotely, for example nursing because of clinical requirements. In these instances, a student can take elective hours to remain enrolled. It will be important for students to work closely with their academic advisor if they desire remote instruction for Fall 2020.

No, we will use our regular grading options, as we did in the Spring 2020 semester.

Faculty will be in their offices preparing for classes and attending meetings via technology. However, there will be no face-to-face meetings in faculty offices this fall. You will meet with faculty using videoconferencing, such as Google Meets.

You should email your advisor to set up a Google Meets session for advising.

All meetings with advisors will be virtual during Fall 2020.

Hybrid learning is a mix of in-person (or synchronous video conferencing) and online instruction for each class. This allows us to provide a personal learning experience while maintaining social distancing. Students will attend classes in person once per week. The remaining instruction will take place on Blackboard in an asynchronous approach (the material is there and you can access it at a time convenient for you as long as you keep up with course due dates and assignments). Limited courses may meet in person twice a week because of the number of credits or the size of the class. In these instances, you will be contacted by your instructor with more details.

The upgraded classroom technology will allow a student who is not feeling well to attend class from his/her residence hall or home. The student will need to contact his/her instructor in advance to access this type of attendance.

No, the last day to withdraw or drop a class will not change.

Classes on the A.P. White Campus have been modified to a M,F and a T,R hybrid schedule. Deep cleaning in classrooms will occur on Wednesdays. Some labs and a few other classes will continue to meet on Wednesdays.

In the fall, classes on the A.P. White campus will begin on Saturday, August 22nd and end on Wednesday, November 25th. Homecoming has been moved to the spring semester. There are currently no changes to the spring schedule.

Yes. Teams will travel primarily to participate in Mid-South Conference contests. When possible, there will be an emphasis on competing in the state of Kentucky and reducing overnight travel for non-conference contests.

Screening will occur prior to all athletics related activity. This includes practices, competition, conditioning, meetings, and weight training. When practical, masks shall be worn and capacity limited. All athletes will be screened prior to departing for a school-sponsored trip. Masks will be required while riding in vehicles. Hand sanitizer will be available. Vehicles will be disinfected prior to and after athletes enter and exit the vehicle. Hotel stays will be reduced. Only two athletes will be permitted per hotel room. When possible, food will be delivered to the team.

Signs will be posted in areas frequented by visitors to inform them of expectations.

If a person visits admissions, they will be informed that they must do a health assessment the morning of the visit. They are limited to one guest. Temperatures are taken outside and masks are required.

For visitors and vendors not reporting to the admissions office, the LWC representative who issued the invitation for guests on campus is responsible for the health assessment and other LWC health and safety guidelines.

When the college releases a statement with information about our plans to re-open, the same statement is emailed to new student and parent email addresses provided through the Virtual New Student Orientation program. Both students and parents have been given multiple opportunities to ask questions through virtual meeting spaces.

There will not be any public groups allowed to rent space on the main campus including the dining center, chapel, auditoriums, etc.

Yes, it will be open for recruits and prospective student visitors only.

There will be one entrance and two exits to Cranmer Dining Center to reduce interactions created by pedestrian cross traffic. Food will be served by an employee along with grab and go options. All items will be served in a disposable container with disposable cutlery. There will be no self serve items available. Seating was reduced by 50% and we encourage students to dine elsewhere.

We will have distancing lines on the floor with little to no cross traffic. There will be multiple buffet lines in order to decrease the wait time.

Specific information is being gather by the enrollment coordinators at the community college campus. This information will be distributed to each of the instructors teaching on that campus in the fall including who to contact when a question arises.

Face masks will be mailed to faculty from the A.P. White campus. Face shields are also available to faculty upon request.

The instructor will instruct the student to put on a face mask. If the student refuses, the instructor will ask the student to leave.

PPE masks, cloth masks, neck gaiters, homemade masks, or other branded masks are acceptable if they do not promote any offensive images, materials, or language. Instructors may ask someone to change their face mask if it is deemed inappropriate.

Extended students are expected to take their temperature before attending class. If the temperature is 100.4℉/38℃ or higher, the student is not permitted to attend class. If an extended student does not have a thermometer, the college will provide one upon request.

Google Meets which is part of LWC's G Suite and will record all instructor and student meetings and upload the recording to the instructor's Google Drive. Once uploaded, the instructor can make the recording available to the ill student or all students.

Yes, each instructor is required to take attendance particularly of those students who are attending class face-to-face.

Enrollment coordinators are checking to see if the classrooms have the appropriate computer technology to record and deliver instruction synchronously.

All full-time faculty will have a laptop capable of recording instruction and delivering synchronous instruction.

Adjunct faculty who are scheduled for a course on an extended campus and who have students wishing to attend class synchronously have been asked if they have a laptop that can be used for this purpose. Should an adjunct faculty not have the necessary technology, that instructor will bring it to the attention of the dean who will consider and pursue solutions.

In that event, face-to-face instruction will move to synchronous videoconferencing with remaining instruction being offered asynchronously in Blackboard.

We have partnered with Hillyard, a manufacturer and distributor of cleaning and hygiene solutions, to obtain an EPA approved disinfectant called Re-Juv-Nal to combat COVID-19. Hillyard also created an enhanced plan specifically for Lindsey Wilson College based on best practices to clean our campus, focusing on areas that are frequently touched in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We have placed spray bottles of Re-Juv-Nal and paper towels across campus for members of the community to use in between scheduled cleanings. Hand sanitizer dispensers were also installed in entryways and hallways throughout campus.

Areas across campus were identified by supervisors to determine the best way to maintain social distance in high traffic areas. Barriers and plexiglass were installed as needed.

Wipes with Re-Juv-Nal, an EPA approved disinfectant, are available in the computer labs for cleaning after each use.

Frequent disinfection of all high-touch public areas will be a part of routine cleaning by Environmental Services.

Signs will be posted at each elevator regarding the number of people who can ride the elevator at one time while maintaining social distancing of 6 feet. The floors of the elevators will indicate where individuals may stand.

To limit interactions created by pedestrian cross traffic, the highly frequented buildings are marked to create one-way traffic flow. For example, buildings will have entrances and exits clearly marked with signs. Doors designated as exits will remain locked to encourage individuals to use the door designated as entrances. Stairways will be marked as up only or down only. Floor markings and other signage will assist with flow in the buildings. Yes. All students, faculty and staff are required to complete a training prior to returning to the A.P. White campus. Training must be completed prior to returning to campus but no later than August 19.

The College has spent months preparing for a safe return to campus. We have had conversations and listened to podcasts from health experts and have been attentive to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Governor Beshear, and our local health department. We have had a team of nearly 70 individuals assigned to 9 specific teams including, academics, athletics, student life, communications, dining center, health and safety, facilities, and extended campuses. These individual teams have spent hours and weeks prodding, probing, and pushing to come up with the best and safest response for each of these key functional areas.

Among the recommendations from our various teams include.

• The purchase of 17,000 masks to be distributed to students upon their arrival. Masks will be available throughout campus and will be mandatory.
• Hand sanitizer stations have been installed in each building and we have provided two individual bottles for each residential student.
• Thermometers have been purchased and will be distributed to students for daily self-assessment of their temperatures.
• The academic calendar and delivery method have been adjusted to allow social distancing in the classroom and an early return home by Thanksgiving in case there is a second wave of COVID-19 later in the semester.
• There will be minimal classes held on Wednesday to allow a deep mid-week cleaning of our facilities.
• Buildings will have designated entrances and exits to make sure our traffic flows in a particular direction to minimize close contact with other individuals.
• Plexiglass has been installed in all high traffic areas to protect close interactions between individuals.
• Individual meetings between faculty and students will take place by technology rather than in small office areas. Meetings with staff are also encouraged to be conducted via technology where possible.
• Student-athletes will be tested for COVID-19 within 7 days of their first competition.
• Any member of the LWC community showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested and quarantined until the results are known.
• A quarantine residence hall has been created to accommodate students who need this special care and attention.
• The seating in the dining center has been reduced to 288 seats to promote social distancing. All meals will be served in disposable containers and there will be no self-serve stations such as a salad bar. The health department has approved our detailed plans for feeding our students.
• Commuters, faculty, staff, and outside visitors are not able to eat in the dining center to minimize contact with residential students.
• This list of preparations is in no way inclusive of all the things we are doing for our safe return to campus.

All offices began to be staffed by a minimum of one individual on May 18. All staff will be working their normal hours on campus beginning August 3.

Employees are expected to abide by and encourage others to follow all COVID-19 protocols and guidance. This includes, but is not limited to, completing the daily health assessment, staying home when showing any symptoms, and communicating with the supervisors. Additionally, employees will follow the Face Mask Protocol, social distancing, and posted signs for traffic flow. Meetings should occur virtually, when possible.

The College is requiring all students and employees to complete a training module prior to returning to campus. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is being provided by the College. Being part of a family means sometimes having to do things that are not popular. We all are hopeful we will be able to finish the semester on the main campus in a face-to-face format. The best opportunity for that to occur is for all of us to make good decisions for the overall health and well-being of our LWC family.

We are going to treat you like the adults that you are and expect you to be loving and protective of your LWC family. That means you will need to take your temperature daily before attending class with the thermometer the college is providing you. You will complete a health assessment each day to answer questions honestly to be protective of this family. If you demonstrate a callous disregard for what we are asking you to do, then we will suspend you from the college and send you home.

Testing will be required for students and faculty who are symptomatic. They will be referred to the local health care provider who will administer the Rapid Test with results within 15 minutes.

If employees are symptomatic for COVID-19, they will be directed not to come to work or to leave campus immediately and to get tested. If employees test positive, they should immediately contact their supervisor who will work with HR to identify others that may have been exposed through direct contact. Those individuals will be contacted by HR or a supervisor to quarantine for 14 days. The College will also work with the local health department regarding their efforts for contact tracing.

In order to provide clear instructions for traffic flow in and out of buildings and up and down stairs, signage will be posted for each entrance, exit, stairs up and stairs down. Additionally, signs providing a reminder for social distancing, mask requirements and hand-washing will be included in the main entrance of most areas. In situations where a student may stand waiting in line, such as the Dining Center, Starbucks, Business Office and Registrar’s Office, floor markers indicating where to stand were added. Maximum occupancy signs were posted near the entrance to elevators and other small rooms. All students, faculty, staff, and visitors are expected to abide by all posted signs.

Most offices have individual work spaces or at least 6 feet of distance between desks. For employees that may have underlying health issues that could impact their ability to return to campus, they may complete the COVID-19 Work Adjustment Request Form and submit all required information to HR. Yes, we expect all students and guests to comply with CDC regulations including the practice of six feet social distancing. Students, employees and guests of the college are required to wear a mask at all times. See Face Mask Protocol for details.

Residential living spaces are considered family units and in a broader sense so are residence halls and apartments. It is the responsibility of residents to practice social distancing, to wash hands frequently and keep their individual rooms and common areas as clean as possible. Roommates are encouraged to interact with each other as they do with their families. Students should sleep opposite of each other, sleeping head to toe when sharing a room.

Environmental Services will monitor and clean all public spaces including residence halls more frequently. For example, high touch surfaces will be cleaned twice daily. Hand sanitizer stations have been installed and available in all facilities including residence halls. Safety checks will be conducted weekly by residence life to assure students and staff are maintaining a safe, clean living environment.

Environmental Services will provide additional cleaning shifts in all public access bathrooms. Residents with private bathrooms are responsible for the cleanliness of their area.

Yes, LWC reserves the right to change any housing assignment in response to COVID-19.

Visitation hours have been adjusted, including the number of guests and who is permitted to visit campus. In addition, residence life staff and public safety will conduct additional rounds to make sure residents are practicing social distancing and adhering to policy.

Visitation is restricted to only one guest per resident in all facilities to limit social gatherings. No outside guests are permitted for visitation in residential facilities. Visitation hours have been adjusted to create a healthier climate (4pm-10pm Mon-Thurs, 4pm-12pm Fri, 12pm-12pm Sat, and 12pm-10pm Sunday).

All new and returning students will be directed to a drive-up check-in station for a health and temperature screening and package pick-up. Social distancing will be practiced by scheduling days and times for students to move-in.

New and returning residential students are permitted to have only two guests accompany them on move-in day. Upon completion of move-in, guests are asked to say goodbye to their student to allow others to arrive safely.

It is recommended that students limit their personal travel outside of the local area; we advise against traveling home on weekends in an effort to create the safest and healthiest environment and limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. Quarantine helps prevent spread of disease that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms. Students in quarantine should stay in their residence hall room, home, separate themselves from others, monitor their health, and follow directions from the local health department and school officials for 14 days. Arrangements for remote learning and meals will be made available where applicable.

According to the Centers for Disease Control you have been infected by the Coronavirus and are either asymptomatic or exhibiting symptoms and this is confirmed through a positive test. Residential students will be placed in isolation housing after confirmation of a positive test. Commuter students should be isolated at home. Arrangements for remote learning and meals will be made available where applicable. Students may be released from isolation when they are cleared by the health department.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to follow healthy protocols whenever leaving campus. This includes but is not limited to wearing a face mask, frequent handwashing for at least 20 seconds, the use of hand sanitizer, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, the use of disposable latex gloves when appropriate and the practice of social distancing (a minimum of 6 feet apart) at all times is recommended.

Lindsey Wilson College Face Mask Protocol

Lindsey Wilson College in compliance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the governor’s Healthy at Work – Reopening Kentucky program, has created a PPE protocol. LWC has PPE equipment available to all its students and employees to ensure the safest environment possible. To that end we require the wearing of face coverings* in all public spaces** by students, faculty, staff and guests to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in community settings. LWC students and employees will be issued an LWC Blue Raider mask that is washable and reusable.

*The CDC recommends face coverings be worn whenever leaving your residence. PPE masks, cloth masks, neck gaiters, homemade masks, or other branded masks are acceptable under the protocol as long as they do not promote any offensive images, material or language. These are not "normal times" and therefore we will all need to adjust to our new reality. We will find ways for students to socialize in responsible ways. Class schedules will be modified as will student activities, dining center services, and athletic events. Homecoming has been moved to the spring semester.

New Student Orientation has been held virtually over 9 sessions this summer. Due to the nature of a virtual event, students may have additional paperwork to complete when they arrive on campus.

COVID-19 Teams are monitoring new information from CDC on a daily basis. Revisions will be made as new information is released.

Students will be provided a welcome kit that contains two bottles of hand sanitizer, a facemask, a personal thermometer, directions for social distancing and COVID-19 compliance expectations. New students will receive T-shirts that they normally get during orientation.

Services from the tutoring and writing and math centers will be online only in the fall but other ASC services may be in person. Library instruction can be delivered face-to-face for groups of up to 12 people. Library instruction for online students will be delivered via video posted on our website.

The school nurse currently works only 20 hours per week. She will be a vital part of the COVID response especially with our students.

Students will not be permitted in class without a mask and will be marked absent. Repeated disobedience and non compliance with healthy protocols including face mask protocol that disrupt the operation of the college will result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to a student being asked to leave the college.

Currently, fall sports are scheduled to start with an adjusted schedule. Contests will not begin until September 5. We will be requiring completion of an on-line education course about COVID-19, provide screening and require testing in compliance with Mid-South Conference and NAIA guidelines.

Students will be encouraged to meet virtually. Student organizations will not be permitted to bring outside groups to campus.

It will require a lot of effort from everyone and things will be done differently, but it is very possible for the students to get the LWC Experience. Yes, students will work with their work study supervisor regarding their work schedule. Students are required to adhere to the health and safety guidelines while performing their work study duties.
